WARWICKSHIRE Bears will be without key all-rounder Chris Woakes for tomorrow night’s Friends Life t20 clash with the Northants Steelbacks at Edgbaston.
Woakes will be missing as has been added to England’s one-day international squad with Jade Dernbach possibly unavailable for the remainder of the series against West Indies on compassionate grounds.
Dernbach is believed to have been close to Surrey team-mate Tom Maynard, who was killed early on Monday morning after being hit by a train in London.
Woakes, 23, has played four one-dayers, the most recent of which was against Ireland last August, and the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed his call-up on Monday afternoon.
He was immediately named in the England squad for Tuesday’s second one-day against West Indies at the Oval.
Both Northants and Warwickshire will go into the Edgbaston clash aiming to claim their first wins of the competition.
The Steelbacks saw their first game against Welsh Dragons rained off after just 9.3 overs last Thursday, and then lost a thriller against Somerset at Taunton on Sunday.
Warwickshire have suffered two defeats, at the hands of Welsh Dragons and Somerset, and had one match, against Worcestershire Royals, abandoned.
