Cobblers striker Lewis Wilson has joined Kettering Town on loan until January 2.
Town boss Aidy Boothroyd has spoken of his wish for promising teenager Wilson to go out on loan to play some regular first team football as part of his development.
And the 19-year-old has made the switch to Southern League Premier Division outit Kettering, who are back playing again following the financial turmoil that almost saw the club go out of business earlier this month.
“We have been looking to get Lewis out on loan so we can get him some football,” said Boothroyd.
“I think he’s been really unfortunate in that because of the injuries we’ve had he’s played in every position apart from his own.
“When he did play up front last season he scored and he’s at a stage now where he needs to get some games in.”
Wilson was signed in January from United Counties League Premier Division outfit Newport Pagnell.
He has to date made five starts and six substitute appearances in the claret and white, scoring one goal in the 1-1 draw with Gillingham at Sixfields last season.
He joins a Poppies outfit seemingly back on track under manager Alan Doyle and is set to make his debut in their league clash with Bedworth this Sunday.
The game is scheduled to take place at Steel Park, the home of Corby Town, as the Poppies are still unable to play games at their Nene Park home due to the club not being able to pay their electricity bill.
