Saints boss Jim Mallinder has confirmed Brian Mujati and Soane Tonga’uiha have received big money offers from abroad.
And Mallinder admits Northampton cannot hope to rival the contracts offered – thought to be from French Top 14 side Racing Metro - to the prop pair.
Mujati, 28, who arrived at Saints in 2009, has reportedly told Mallinder he has decided not to take up the option of a third year on his contract.
While Tonga’uiha, 30, is said to be close to agreeing terms with Racing Metro.
And Mallinder said: “I’ve had a couple of conversations with both of our props and they have informed me they have received some pretty substantial offers from overseas.
And when asked whether Saints can compete with the offers, Mallinder said: “Not really, unless we only have about five players in the squad. So, realistically, no.”
