Veteran striker Kevin Slinn was the match winner as UCL Division One leaders Sileby Rangers edged out Raunds Town 2-1 at Fernie Fields.
Raunds started well and took a first half lead through Alex Wills only for Steve Blackwood to level early in the second period.
The game looked to be heading for a stalemate until Slinn won it for Rangers late on.
Elsewhere in division one, Eynesbury moved up to second place beating Olney 3-0 at Hall Road to complete an eight day double. Early goals from Tom Coles and Ben Colmer and a Lee Bassett clincher at the start of the second half took Rovers into the promotion places.
Potton and Whitworth drew 1-1 at The Hollow where Ryan Lovell’s Flourmen’s opener was matched by Nathan Macrow’s late equaliser for the Royals, Bourne moved up two places with a 5-0 win over Buckingham at the Abbey Lawn. Ben Easson scored two first half goals for the Wakes before missing a penalty, with Tom Caldicott, Mike Feeley and Alec Robinson adding to the score in the second period.
Four division one clubs joined Sileby in the last eight of the Northants Junior Cup.
Spencer’s Kingsthorpe Mill ground is under water, so their tie with Bugbrooke was switched to Birds Close where the Badgers ran out 4-0 winners with a Will Briscoe hat trick and Lee Wilson effort.
The other all-UCL tie went to extra time, with Rushden & Higham overcoming hosts Burton Park 4-2. Shaun Melville’s Lankies opener was overhauled by a Wayne Brown brace for Burton but Ash Green levelled late on before giving the visitors the lead in extra time. Jory Mann sealed Rushden & Higham’s progress.
There was a winning start at the helm for new Rothwell Corinthians manager Ben Watts as extra time goals from Jake Bindley and Ian Hay gave his side a 2-0 extra time win over visiting Milton. Ben Sunderland scored a late Thrapston winner as they overcame a two goal deficit to win 4-3 at ICA Sports. Jordan Cross and two goal Iain Blaikie were also on the scoresheet for Town.
In the premier division, Cogenhoe United completed a quickfire double over Irchester.
The Cooks had won 6-1 when the sides met three weeks ago, and this time they triumphed 4-0.
There were first half goals for Ross Harris, Jamie Russell and Jen Ainge, with Karl Bates completing the scoring in the second half.
Long Buckby slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Deeping, Ash Stevens the scorer early in the second half.
Leaders Holbeach maintained top slot with a 4-1 success at Harborough.
Two first half Mitch Griffiths goals and a Michael Emery penalty save saw the Tigers take control and second half singles from Jonny Allen and Andy Tidswell sealed the win with Alex McMillan scoring a late home consolation.
Quorn kept pace with the Tigers by beating Sleaford 5-2 at Farley Way. A Tyrone Kirk opener and doubles from Luke Edwards and Kris Nurse made up Quorn’s nap hand before Sleaford replied late on through Liam Tunstall (penalty) and Tony Edwards.
St Ives lost ground in a 2-2 home draw with Yaxley who took a first half lead through Luke Hipwell who was later sent off. Two goals in a minute from new recruit Robbie Harris and Jon Stead inched the Saints in front but they were pegged back by Matt Cook’s late spot kick. St Ives also finished a man down with Dan Newman dismissed late on.
Newport Pagnell were delayed en route to Blackstones but netted three goals in the last 20 minutes to run out 3-0 winners, Dom Lawless scoring two and Steve Brooks one.
The day’s most exciting encounter saw Shepshed win 5-4 at Huntingdon. Dynamo held a three goal interval lead thanks to a Steve Chaplin opener and Liam Fitzpatrick hat trick, but Jamie Graham’s second goal and further efforts from Declan Rogers and Ben Seymour-Shove hauled Town on terms.
The comeback proved in vain as Luke Smith snatched a late Dynamo winner. The only top flight draw came at AFC Kempston where Craig Grieve’s first half opener for the Walnut Boys was matched by a Ryan Finnegan penalty after the break while gave Stewarts & Lloyds a 1-1 stalemate.
