Two men have died while a woman and an 18-month old boy remain in a “critical” condition following a horror crash in Northamptonshire last night.

Police have confirmed the fatal road traffic collision occurred last night at approximately 8.20pm.

A silver Mazda 5, travelling along the A43 from Duddington towards Corby, collided with a white DAF truck.

Two men, both passengers in the Mazda, aged 21 and 28, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman and 18-month-old boy, who were also passengers, sustained critical injuries.

The driver sustained non life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

Three volunteer emergency doctors from East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme (EMICS) were involved with the paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) in assisting the injured.

Firefighters were also called to release the casualties from the cars.

Sergeant Tony Hopkins, from Northamptonshire Police, last night tweeted: “Just left the serious incident at Duddington. Horrible circumstance to deal with. No training ever prepares you fully.”

Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, can call Northamptonshire Police on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
