Ulster wing Andrew Trimble says his side’s intensity levels will be ‘through the roof’ when they take on Saints at Ravenhill tomorrow night (Sat, ko 6pm).
Trimble was one of four try scorers for the Irish outfit as they conquered Saints at Franklin’s Gardens last Friday night.
The impressive 25-6 win has set them up nicely for the return game on their own turf as Ulster look to edge closer to qualification for the Heineken Cup quarter-finals.
And though Trimble is fully expecting a Saints backlash, he is adamant his team will match them by conjuring up another gargatuan display on Saturday night.
“We’ve been away for two games in Italy, Scarlets and Northampton so it will be nice to get back to Ravenhill and get the crowd behind us, produce a big performance and get our intensity through the roof,” said the Ireland star.
“I think a lot of sides are going to find it very difficult to compete with us a home.
“If we plant the seeds of doubt very early in Northampton they will be very aware of what happened last week.
“As much as we are expecting a backlash, we know we can produce another big performance like that.”
Ulster managed to shut Saints out last Friday, stopping Jim Mallinder’s men getting over the try line, despite being reduced to 14 men for the final nine minutes.
Trimble expects the opposition to mix things up a bit more this weekend, but believes his team possess the tools to deal with anything that will be thrown at them.
“There were a lot of guys that really went to work and our set piece was really good and the forwards were outstanding, last week,” he said.
“Northampton will come here and they won’t roll over.
“They haven’t become a bad side and we’re expecting a backlash and something a little bit different to what they brought last weekend.
“But we are up to it and there is no reason why we can’t be again.”
