UCL ROUND-UP: Jack the lad as Spencer pip Chenecks in derby

Jack Bartley was the Spencer star as they made it seven wins in a row with a 1-0 derby day success over ON Chenecks at Billing Road in the Chromasport UCL Division One.

The Millers were indebted to Bartley’s strike on the hour that proved the difference between the sides.

Goals from Phil Cassidy and Rob Foster in the last 12 minutes gave leaders Sileby Rangers a 2-0 home win over Olney, while second placed Oadby blitzed Raunds 7-0 at Kiln Park.

Ollie Brown-Hill scored a first half hat trick for the Poachers whose other marksmen were debutant Nick Pollard, Jake Duffy and two goal Jon Stevenson.

Will Briscoe scored a late winner for Bugbrooke in their 2-1 success at Rushden & Higham where Lee Wilson’s first half Badgers opener was matched by Craig Harrower’s Lankies reply.

The day’s top scorers were AFC Rushden & Diamonds who thrashed Buckingham 9-0 at Manor Fields. Jake Newman and Alex Deakin scored twice for Diamonds with a goal apiece from Jake Gillingwater, Matt Gearing, Sean McBride, Lance Allen and Chris Hope.

An exciting Chancery Lane derby saw goals in the last four minutes from Danny Darker and Iain Blaikie – his second of the game – give Thrapston a 4-3 win over Rothwell Corimnthians. Luke Cummings was the other home marksman with Ian Hay, Jake Bindley and Elliott Roberts replying for Corinths.

There were two notable scoring feats in Lincolnshire. The division’s top scorer Martin Wormall took his season’s total to 17 goals with all four as Harrowby ran out 4-1 winners over Whitworth who replied through Leigh Chapman, but that tally was bettered by Alec Robinson’s five goal haul for Bourne in a 7-1 Abbey Lawn defeat of Wootton. Ben Easson and Scott Spearink completed the Wakes tally with Courtney Boughton the Blue Cross scorer.

In the premier division, Cogenhoe United enjoyed a 2-1 home win over Huntingdon, Ben Foster and Darren Frost netting for the Cooks either side of a Declan Rogers reply.

Long Buckby were beaten narrowly as they went down 1-0 at Sleaford in a game that saw both sides have a man sent off. Sleaford’s scorer was Tony Edwards.

Holbeach opened up a six point lead at the top with a 5-1 victory at next to bottom Wellingborough. Tommy Treacher and Jonny Allen scored two apiece for the Tigers with Andy Tidswell taking his season’s tally to 21,

Jason Taylor scoring a debut reply for the Doughboys.

Desborough won 2-1 at home to AFC Kempston after falling behind to Josh Bamford’s opener, Kevin Byrne levelling from the spot before Michael Stephenson’s headed own goal won the contest for Ar Tarn.

Peterborough Northern Star unveiled Blackstones duo Michael Goode and Darren Jarvis as their new joint managers and followed up with a 2-1 home win over Stewarts & Lloyds who fielded just 10 men.

Liam Boath gave the Foundrymen the lead early on but goals from Andy Furnell and Matt Cox won the points for Star.

Yaxley and Boston Town drew 1-1 at In2Itive Park with Ricky Hailstone and Matt Barber the respective marksmen

Spalding will carry the league banner in the fourth round of the FA Vase after a 5-1 success in their delayed third round tie at Sutton Town.
