A woman had her bag stolen in a knifepoint robbery in Northampton last night.
The woman was walking in Turner Street, off Kettering Road, between 5.30pm and 5.45pm, when a man wearing a hoody blocked her path.
He then pulled out a kitchen knife, “poked” her in the arm with it, before snatching her bag and running off with it.
A police spokesman said: “We are appealing for information about a robbery on a woman as she walked home from work in Northampton yesterday evening.
“At some time between 5.30pm and 5.45pm, in the area of Turner Street and its junction with St Michael’s Mount into Kettering Road, a woman had her path blocked by a man who demanded that she give him her bag.
“He then tried to pull the bag off the woman’s shoulder. When the bag was not immediately released, the man produced a knife and poked the victim’s arm with the blade.
“This did not injure the woman but she let the bag go and was left very shocked and shaken by the incident.”
The robber is described as a black man, aged 18 to 22, about 5ft 9in with a slight build.
He was wearing dark-coloured trousers and a black hooded top, with the hood worn up.
