Roads around Northampton town centre have re-opened following a gas leak at a former nightclub last night.
St Peter’s Way, Bridge Street and Victoria Promenade were all closed following the leak at the former Atlantix nightclub in Bridge Street, a building which is now empty.
Two fire crews attended the scene at about 9pm and worked with National Grid gas engineers to find and isolate the supply to the building.
Officers from Northamptonshire Police also attended the scene and will be investigating the cause of the leak with National Grid this morning.
Initial reports from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service incorrectly named Aladdins Balti as the source of the leak.
