Northants Steelbacks will be sporting new-look blue kits when they take to the field for the Friends Life Twenty20 and Clydesdale Bank 40 this summer.
In what the club admits is a break from tradition, the claret one-day kits have been jettisoned in favour of a navy blue strip for the T20, and a ‘fresh blue’ kit for the CB40.
There will be claret trimming on both strips, which have been designed by the club’s new kit suppliers MKK Sports, and claret will be more prominent than usual on the team’s white LV= County Championship shirts.
A club statement read: “Northants Cricket is delighted to reveal brand new playing kit for the 2013 season, designed by the club’s new kit Suppliers MKK Sports.
“In a break from tradition, the Steelbacks will take to the field of play in either a modern looking navy coloured Friends Life t20 kit, or a fresh blue and navy Clydesdale Bank 40 strip.
“The club’s historic maroon colour will appear on all kit, but will prevail on Northants’ innovative LV= County Championship shirts.”
Northants Cricket chief executive David Smith said: “2013 represents a brand new start for the club, and we would like to herald that fact with a superb, modern looking new kit for the Steelbacks.”
The club are still confirming plans to retail the brand new kit and will announce details on how you can purchase replica shirts and kit in the coming weeks.
MKK Sports are based in Eastbourne, and already provide playing kit for Sussex, Middlesex, Worcestershire, Nottinghamshire and Surrey, as well as rugby league side London Broncos.
