NORTHANTS batsman Kyle Coetzer has been selected by Scotland for their World Cricket League matches with Canada next month.
Scotland face the Canadians in both the Intercontinental Cup and World Cricket League, but Coetzer has been selected for the WCL only.
The two World Cricket League matches are to be held at the Citylets Grange in Edinburgh on July 9 and 11.
That means Coetzer is likely to miss the Steelbacks’ final Friends Life t20 group clash against Gloucestershire at the County Ground on July 8.
The Scots will be captained by Gordon Drummond and will feature contracted players Matthew Parker, Richie Berrington, Gordon Goudie, Majid Haq and Ryan Flannigan.
Drummond said: “In the World Cricket League, after a couple of disappointing results against the UAE we will be looking to get back to winning ways with two matches against the same opposition.
“These are obviously massive matches if we are going to reach the 2015 World Cup.
“We have a decent record against Canada at home and, with the strength and depth we have in both squads, are confident of coming out on top.”
Simon Smith, Ewan Chambers and Moneeb Iqbal feature in the Intercontinental Cup squad, before being replaced by Craig Wallace, Coetzer and Fraser Watt in the World Cricket League squad.
Scotland squad: Gordon Drummond (captain), Ryan Flannigan, Matthew Parker, Alisdair Evans, Richard Berrington, Majid Haq, Simon Smith, Gordon Goudie, Preston Mommsen, Calum MacLeod, Ewan Chalmers, Jan Stander, Moneeb Iqbal, Joshua Davey.
