Northamptonshire Police have this morning confirmed Martin Jelley will take on the role of temporary deputy chief constable at the end of the month.

Mr Jelley, who is one of two assistant chief constables in Northamptonshire, will take on the role on a temporary basis on February 1, when Suzette Davenport leaves the post.

Ms Davenport, who has been the county’s deputy chief constable since 2010, is set to leave to become the new chief constable of Gloucestershire Constabulary.

From February 1, Chief Superintendent Paul Phillips will also become temporary assistant chief constable.

The force’s other assistant chief constable, Andy Frost, will remain in his current position.

Chief Constable Adrian Lee, said: “We are fortunate to have senior officers of a very high calibre in Northamptonshire and I know that both ACC Jelley and Chief Supt Phillips will continue our focus on driving down crime and improving trust and confidence.”
