Loughborough Riders II 47

Northamptonshire Titans 58

TITANS were given a tough time, but still emerged as winners in this EBL VCARS.co.uk Division Two Women SW Midlands clash.

The match was tied at 27-27 at half-time, .

The concern for Titans was the foul count, and an early injury to Sascha Thompson.

The third quarter started slowly but stepped up with a Thompson three which seemed to ignite both teams.

In the final quarter Titans stepped up on the defensive and once again Thompson stepped off the bench and hit another three.

Captain Angelina Browne was dominate in the paint and the Titans ran out 58-47 winners. Top scorers were Browne (21) and Nauel Cali (11).

The Titans travel to Birmingham Mets in the semi-final of the Womens National Trophy this weekend.

Bucks Hornets 78

Northamptonshire Titans 38

Titans made the journey to Aylesbury to play Bucks Hornets in EBL Under 13 Boys Midlands South Conference, but it was a struggle.

They couldn’t get points on the board early on, but Bradley Powell entered the game in the seventh minute and immediately knocked down a downtown three which gave the visitors a boost.

Captain Joe McGrady raised the tempo and Titans began to keep Bucks at bay with a much more solid second quarter performance.

The second half was the young Titans’ undoing as they had no answers to stopping the Hornets from driving to the basket and coming up short in the rebounding department.

Titans ended up at the full time whistle down by 40 points.

Top scorers were McGrady (11), Powell (nine) and Elijah Mckiernan (eight).

Milton Keynes Lions 45

Northamptonshire Titans 71

Titans travelled to take on Milton Keynes at Courtside on Saturday hoping to keep their unbeaten EBL Under 14 Boys Midlands Conference record.

The Titans’ CJ Charteris and Setemi Omoyeni were hoping to put on a show for their former club and were major contributors as MK proved to be a formidable force.

Titans looked still to be in fine form as they opened a comfortable gap in the first quarter and with a Salmon three-pointer inside the first minute of the second quarter they looked set to continue their unbreakable form.

The teams went into the locker room at 25-49.

More of the same was hoped for in the third by the boys in purple, but MK mounted an impressive comeback which saw a six-minute Titans dry spell.

An incredible half court shot from MK ended the third which saw only nine points scored by the Titans.

They needn’t have been too worried as a quick Smithers drive to the bucket started a collapse in the MK defence, allowing Titans to run the floor for the following six minutes.

The quarter finished with Tom Weatherspoon sinking a free throw. Top scorers for Titans were Charteris (15), Keenan Salmon (14) and Trei St Vie Huthchinson (14).
