The managing director of a south Northamptonshire chicken processing plant has said the company is looking into residents’ complaints about the site.

Dozens of Brackley residents are taking legal action to fight against odours they claim are coming from the Faccenda chicken processing site in Willow Road.

Around 40 people have received advice from specialist environmental solicitors, Hugh James, about problems they claim they have experienced for years from the Faccenda chicken processing site in Willow Road.

Gwen Evans of Hugh James said: “The evidence we have seen suggests that residents have been exposed to an unacceptable level of odour from the site. People in these circumstances are entitled to compensation for what they have suffered in the past, and an injunction to prevent the continuation of this nuisance in future.”

Residents living near to the site, which has been the headquarters of Faccenda Group Limited since 1996, have reported serious odour problems since 2007.

Some said that they were often unable to open their doors and windows because of the smell and others have even claimed to have suffered illnesses as a result of it.

Managing director of the Faccenda, Andy Dawkins, said: “Faccenda has been established in Brackley for 50 years and we are proud of our association with the town, in which we are, of course a major employer.

“We are very conscious that there are environmental issues which can affect our industry and we work regularly with a neighbourhood Liaison Group, formed by the town council and supported by ourselves and the Environment Agency, to make sure we are doing all we can to maintain a good environment and support the interests of the community as a whole.

“It is therefore a great sadness to us that a different group of residents has now threatened us with legal action.”

He added: “Obviously we are investigating their claims and taking legal advice and while this is going on we cannot comment on specifics, but we will provide an update when we can.”

He said any residents with concerns should call the company on 01280 707713.
