A man was punched to the back of the head and repeatedly kicked to the face and head by two thugs wearing hoodies during a vicious robbery in Northampton.

The victim, who police say is a 20-year-old man, was attacked in Millers Meadow, between Spencer Bridge Road and St Andrew’s Road, in Semilong, at about 6.10am on Saturday.

He was walking home from the St James area after a night out but was punched to the back of the head.

After falling to the ground he was then repeatedly kicked to the face and head.

A police spokesman said: “The man was ordered to empty his pockets and a black iPhone 4 was stolen. He was then told to walk towards Grafton Street and the offender made off in the direction of St Andrew’s Road.”

The first attacker was a white man, 5ft 10in and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a white hoody over his head.

Police say he did “all the talking”.

The second man was 6ft and was wearing a black hoody with the hood worn up. He was also wearing a black scarf over his face and possibly Nike Air Max trainers.
