Northamptonshire are to hold a charity match in memory of their former player Kevin Curran.
The game will be a 12-over clash between Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire sides made up of Curran’s former team-mates.
It will take place before the County’s Twenty20 clash with Glamorgan on Sunday, July 14.
Zimbabwean international Curran, who played for both Northants and Gloucestershire, collapsed and died while out jogging last October.
The match is being organised by Alan Fordham - a colleague of Curran’s at Wantage Road - and will raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
Fordham said: “The Northamptonshire dressing-room that I enjoyed for many years lost its first member in Kevin Curran - a popular member of the team.
“I set about organising this match in Kevin’s honour and have managed to get together two teams from his playing days.
“We are planning a fundraising lunch between the two matches and a bucket collection around what should be a decent crowd for the afternoon match.
“I am of course most grateful to Northamptonshire and my former team-mates for their support of this fundraising effort.”
