Liverpool forward Henoc John Mukendi has revealed he will join the Cobblers on a season-long loan from Anfield.
The player announced the news on Twitter but the Chron understands the paperwork on the deal has not been completed, and the signing will be officially processed in the next 24 hours.
Writing on Twitter, Mukendi said: “Just Arrived in Northampton !! Gonna be on loan at Northampton town this season !!!! #cobblers”
Mukendi is an attacking player who originally hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and arrived at the Liverpool academy in 2007.
Now a second-year scholar with British citizenship, the 18-year-old is equally happy playing as a traditional centre-forward or in a wide left position.
Mukendi becomes the second player to arrive on loan from Liverpool in the past year, following in the footsteps of winger Toni Silva, who spent four months at Sixfields last season.
The signing of Mukendi would appear to end any chance of Michael Hoganson, who impressed on trial but opted to train with Derby County, of returning to the club.
