AN IT lecturer who downloaded images of child sex abuse is unlikely ever to teach again, a court heard.

Ian Jenkins, 41, was living in Long Buckby when police officers raided his home and seized his computer.

Northampton Crown Court heard specialist computer forensic officers discovered he had been viewing indecent images of children.

Hannah Mettam, prosecuting, said 20 specimen images were examined, including two pictures of children being subjected to serious sexual abuse, which had been downloaded between 2006 and 2009. Jenkins, now of Gloucestershire, was found guilty after a trial and was sentenced to a two-year community order, £2,500 costs, with 80 hours’ unpaid work and an indefinite sexual offences prevention order (SOPO) limiting access to the internet.
