Police have named a Northamptonshire motorcyclist who has died in an accident in west London.
Joshua Downing, aged 26, of High Street, Wappenham, near Towcester, died on Tuesday following a crash with a car at about 9.40pm the previous evening in North End Road.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the vehicles involved were an Audi A3 and a Triumph motorcycle.
Mr Downing, who was riding the motorcycle, was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance. He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where he subsequently died from his injuries the following day.
A post mortem examination held last Friday at Fulham Mortuary gave the cause of death as blunt force trauma.
An inquest was opened and adjourned the same day at Fulham Coroner’s Court.
Detective Sergeant Jeff Edwards, who is leading the investigation, said: “I am grateful to a number of people who stopped at the scene to assist both the casualty and other driver that night. Despite this being evening time, this stretch of road was fairly busy with commuters and I would urge anyone who may have seen any of the parties in the moments leading up to the collision, or the collision itself, to contact police.”
