County bowlers do their bit for charity
Forty-eight bowlers took part in the Charity Triples Gala last week in aid of the Headway charity.
The event was organised by the president of the Northamptonshire IBA, Tony Warren, to benefit the charity which provides facilities for people who have suffered injuries to the brain.
The afternoon consisted of each triple playing three sessions each of eight ends, against drawn opponents, and although there were prizes for the top mixed triple and the top male triple, the main purpose was to have a fun afternoon and to raise as much money for the charity as possible.
Those taking part brought a range of raffle prizes and the proceeds from the sale of tickets plus the entry fees, raised a total profit of £521.
Bowlers came from most of the county’s indoor clubs, plus the NIBA and EIBA, and although the results are not so important, the top mixed triple was that of Marion Cozens/Peter Cozens/Reg Jones, of Northampton & District IBC with a 100 per cent record and a +17 shots aggregate.
And the top male triple was that of Alan Thorne/Brian Barnicoat/Peter Wood, of Kettering Lodge BC who also had a 100 per cent record with a +13 shots aggregate.
