Olivia Perrin was the two-goal star as Moulton Magpies secured their first win of the season with a 2-1 Mid-Shires Girls Under-13s League vcitory over Cogenhoe & Kingsthorpe.

Team: Lauren Sturgess, Leah Jones, Bethany Spring, Natasha Haycock, Antonia Brewer, Katelyn Brown, Kate Sullivan, Millie Harris, Olivia Perrin, Caitlin Wright

MOM: Olivia Perrin

Report: All the training and hard work has paid off, Moulton have finally won their first game of the season! Every single Moulton player on the pitch played fantastic, Olivia scored two brilliant goals. It is a great confidence boost for the girls and hopefully we can win a few more in the seasons to come. Well done to all the girls, great work.

Cogenhoe and Kingsthorpe

Lost 2-1 to Moulton Magpies

Scorer: Jade Underwood

MOM: Georgia Francis

Team: Lauren Avis, Ryanna Turnbull-Belfon, Chloe Carpenter, Ella Clarke, Liberty Cook, Georgia Francis, Charly Rogers, Hollie Webster, Jade Underwood, Matilda Fildler, Megan Redmond

Report: Cogenhoe and Kingsthorpe travelled to Moulton Magpies. A good start for Kingsthorpe as they opened up a 1-0 lead through Jade Underwood. The second half Moulton Magpies came back with two well struck goals and they won the match 2-1.

Gregory Celtic

Beat Corby Hellenic 3-0

Scorers: Monique Johnson-Harrison, Favour Omenazu, Chloe Murphy

MOM: Rose Wallace

Team: Harriet Adnitt, Rose Wallace, Chloe Murphy, Alicia Solazzo, Favour Omenazu, Monique Johnson-Harrison, Bethany Baxter, Maisie Bussey, Sarah Caplin, Ciara Clancy, Keisha Garafola

Report: The Celtic welcomed the Hellenic girls to Northampton, and credit to Corby as they were very well organised. The only goal scored in the first half was from Monique and possession was equal between both teams. It was more of the same in the second with both Chloe and Favour getting on the score sheet. A hard fought victory against a Corby team that have a lot more to come. Well done to both teams for a very good game of football. Rose got the man of the match shout for a rock solid performance.

Blisworth Vixens

Beat FC Aztec 5-0

Scorers: Jessica Piff 3, Abbie Reboul, Leanne Kelly-Wilson

Team: Leonie Kelly-Wilson, Jessica Piff, Jade Ward, Leanne Kelly-Wilson, Abide Reboul, Tabitha Ward, Eloise Bailey, Tabitha Luntz, Sara Cassidy

MOM: Tabitha Luntz

Report: Blisworth took the lead within minutes off the kick off through an Abbie Reboul goal. A hard-working and resilient Aztec team managed to stop Blisworth from playing their normal passing game. Blisworth again scored just after the midway point of the first half. The second half was the same with Aztec working tirelessly to stop Blisworth playing football. Blisworth scored three more goals towards the end of the second half as the Aztec team appeared to be running out of steam. On a damp and cold Saturday morning, both teams endeavoured to play some great football in a wonderfully spirited way. Well done FC Aztec.

Moulton Magpies

Beat Brackley Athletic 1-0

Scorer: Jo Gilding

Team: Kirsty Bryant, Aneesah Malik, Chloe Dunkley, Ollie Clifford, Lois Donegal, Ella Sturgess, Jo Gilding, Emily Boddington, Abbie Mackenzie, Lauren Kennedy, Georgia Webb, Katie Gurr, Rosie Baker, Hannah Morton

MOM: Chloe Dunkley

Report: A competitive game between two even sides in awfully cold and windy conditions. Fair play to both teams for playing the game in a good spirited manner! Jo scored in the first half with a wind assisted corner and the Magpies had the better of the chances with the wind at their backs in the first half. Brackley got into the game in the second half with the wind behind them, however as in recent weeks the Magpies defence has been in a stubborn mood and is playing extremely well and were not willing to concede on the day. Chloe made her 100th appearance for the club and thoroughly deserves her MOM.

Brackley Athletic

Lost 1-0 to Moulton Magpies

Team: Zara Grudzinski, Melissa Webber, Saraya Phillips, Eden Brown, Shauna Cox, Amy Marshall, Jody Marshall, Stephanie Knight, Ophelia Plumb, Lacey Walton, Beth Hope, Hannah Shepherd, Charlotte Alderman, Jasmin Davis

Report: Brackley had a slow start to the game and playing against the wind didn’t help matters either. Moulton took advantage of this with some good pressure and nice football, which led to a goal early on scoring from a corner. Brackley managed to get back on level terms with Moulton and our defence and keeper held out until half time. The second half started as the first half finished both teams playing some good football, but as the game went on Brackley’s midfield started to take command of the game and where pushing very hard for the equaliser. With the wind behind us and Moulton, having to swap players about due to injuries Brackley found themselves camped in Moulton’s half for the last five minutes. The Moulton Keeper made a couple of great saves and even though Brackley had several shots at goal, we were unable to get the equalising goal. All in all a very good game of football played in very cold conditions. Well Done to both teams.
