Police believe they have located the cyclist who was unaccounted for following a road accident on a bridge in Northampton.
Officers had searched the area of Upton Way near the Danes Camp roundabout on Friday night and most of Saturday after a motorist told the force he may have hit someone who was riding a pedal cycle. Searches were made under the dual carriageway, which crosses the Grand Union Canal and the River Nene.
However, after a media appeal the brother of a cyclist, who was hit in Upton Way at about midnight on Friday night, approached an officer in a supermarket.
Inspector John Lloyd said: “We are reassured that the cyclist in question has been located.
“It appears he just got up afterwards and left the scene, and was just unsure of what to do in the circumstances.”
