Police reported violence and drunk driving as it happened last night with a Twitter project by officers in Northamptonshire nightspots.
Using the #alcoholharm hashtag, Twitter users were able to see the aftermath of a car crash at the White Elephant junction, Kettering Road, after which a breath test suggested the driver was over the well over the limit.
Followers read about the alleged offence, which started with reports of a drunk driver in The Mounts and then calls to say the car had crashed near Abington Grove.
A special constable who rushed to the scene tweeted: “Male has blown 102 at the roadside... The legal limit is 35...”
Other arrests included an aggressive man in the Drapery who had to be sprayed with Parva, a man left unconscious from a ‘vicious assault’ in Northampton town centre and drunken fights in Clare Street and Wellingborough Road, the latter being spotted on CCTV.
Northamptonshire Police said two officers were assaulted in the course of the night and 32 people were taken into custody at either the Criminal Justice Centre in Northampton or in Corby, mostly for alcohol-related crimes.
