Detectives have this afternoon revealed they have arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of the murder of David ‘Les’ Ross.

Officers from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit carried out a number of search warrants at addresses in Corby and Market Harborough yesterday.

The 39-year-old man who has been arrested is from Corby.

Mr Ross, aged 39, died as a result of an assault and was found on Monday, December 17, 2012.

Police launched a widespread appeal to find his killer, including an appeal on BBC’s Crimewatch.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Kinchin, who is leading the investigation, said: “The searches and the arrest are amongst a number of active lines of enquiry. We are still particularly interested to speak to anybody who was in contact with Les during 2012.

“We know he confided in different people in his life. He will have told them about aspects of his life, his hopes or concerns. We need those people to come forward and contact us so that we can build a true picture of the life of David Ross.”

Nightclub boss Mr Ross was found dead in the Village Express Hotel in The Jamb, Corby. He died as a result of a blow to the head.

Speaking during the Crimewatch appeal, his brother Niall Ross, said: “There’s no answers. There’s nothing. At the moment we know someone’s murdered him but that’s all we know.

“There’s no closure. We can’t put him to rest. It’s just so difficult.”

A £5,000 Crimestoppers reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible was also put up.
