Courtney Lawes admits he’s eager to get back to his best as he bids to help Saints claim Premiership glory.

Lawes came off the bench during the second half of England’s game against Wales last weekend, but was unable to stop his side suffering a 30-3 reverse.

It was the culmination of a Six Nations campaign that saw the the Northampton forward play far from a full part, returning to his club twice during the tournament.

Both times, against Worcester and London Irish, he put in commanding performances to help Saints stay on the play-off trail.

And Lawes is now hoping to continue his good club form against Wasps at Adams Park this weekend.

“We’ve got Wasps and Leicester, then you don’t need to look beyond that,” he said. “I’ll just crack on and try to get my form back to where it was.

“I feel good at the moment. Against London Irish, when I started for Saints, I felt really good. It was a good strong game, I made a lot of carries and I’ve got to get that back into my game.

“I feel good at the moment, I feel confident, which is the most important thing.”

Lawes endured a fragmented Six Nations campaign, starting just one game: the win against France at Twickenham.

But the second row star is now looking forward to putting the tournament behind him and helping Saints achieve their league aims.

“I didn’t play that many minutes in the Six Nations, certainly not as many as I’d have liked so I’m looking forward to getting some rugby under me and seeing what happens in the future,” he said.

“I’ll just crack on for Saints and see where it leads.”
