Police today warned people living in rural areas of Northamptonshire about the possibility of illegal raves over the forthcoming Easter holiday weekend.

Despite the continuing freezing conditions, the force says it is determined to maintain a “robust approach” to raves and is encouraging support from rural communities to be their eyes and ears to prevent such events getting under way.

Landowners are also encouraged to take measures to prevent access to their land, such as keeping gates secure and entrance ways to fields blocked. Barns and other out-buildings should also be kept secure.

Pc Claire Salmon, from the Rural Crime Team, said: “We want to hear from you if you notice cars driving slowly and appearing to be looking at fields, outbuildings and barns, or if you spot any potential markings at locations, such as paint marks on the road surface or ribbons on gates and in hedges.

“If you notice a number of vehicles arriving at a location and suspect a rave may be starting, please call 999 immediately.”

Alternatively, information about potential raves can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
