One person was taken to hospital after a candle set fire to the living room of a detached house in Nether Heyford last night.
Firefighters were called to the blaze, in Furnace Lane, just after 8.30pm.
A spokesman said the fire was contained to the sitting room of the “large two-storey detached house”, but caused significant damage.
The remainder of the property suffered severe smoke damage.
Crews from The Mounts and Mereway used two hose reels and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.
One person had to be treated with oxygen at the scene before being taken to hospital.
The Red Cross support team was also called to the incident.
