A gang of teenagers beat up a 29-year-old man outside a Tesco store in Northampton, leaving him with a punctured lung.
The man was outside his home in Hirondelle Close, Duston, near to the Tesco Express store, when a group of up to five teenagers kicked and punched him while he was on the ground.
The police have said his injuries were serious and included a punctured lung.
The gang are all described as being 15 to 16-years-old.
Three of the boys were white. One is 5ft 11, carrying a rucksack and wore a checked coat.
Another was 5ft 9, wore a blue and black checked coat. A third wore a purple baseball cap.
A girl who was among the group was about 16-years-old, with frizzy hair, wore small circular glasses, a white T-shirt, a cardigan and light coloured leggings.
The attack happened at about 10pm on Wednesday.
