A cab driver in Northamptonshire faces a court bill of £275 after she was caught smoking in her vehicle.
Valerie Dean, of Deano’s Private Hire, based in Towcester, was prosecuted after a complaint was made to South Northamptonshire Council’s Health Protection team.
Mrs Dean was found guilty at Northampton Magistrates Court last week and she was fined £100 plus £150 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
South Northamptonshire Councillor Dermot Bambridge (Con, Silverstone), portfolio holder for environmental services, said: “All taxis and private hire vehicles must remain smoke-free at all times to comply with the law.”
