A walker was bitten on her leg by a Staffordshire bull terrier while walking in a wood near Grange Park, police have said.

The woman was bitten by the dog as she walked in the wooded area by the footpath off Bridge Meadow Walk, in Grange Park, some time between 9.20am and 9.30am on Monday.

The woman noticed two dogs being walked off their leads ahead of her, with the woman owner behind the dogs.

One of the dogs, a black Staffordshire bull terrier, then ran up to the woman and bit her right leg, causing “bruising and swelling”.

A police spokesman said: “The dogs’ owner gathered the dogs together and left the area, saying nothing to the woman who had been bitten.”

The dog owner was white, 5ft 2ins, aged in her 60s, with mousy brown hair tied back in a ponytail.

She was wearing a pair of metal rimmed glasses and a blue fleece with black trousers and patterned wellies.
