A singer from Northampton will be performing on BBC1’s The Voice tomorrow night.

Karl Michael, of Standens Barn, will be one of the auditonees featured in the primetime TV show which is judged by Sir Tom Jones, Jessie J, will.i.am and Danny O’Donoghue

Mr Michael, aged 27, who has had two recording contracts in the past and has recorded vocals on a Bruno Mars track, said he believed the show was his “last chance” to make it as a singer.

He said: “I have not got another career or anything like that. There is no Plan B.

“I didn’t want to give myself a different career as that would give me an option to fail. I’ve put everything into my music and had anumber of highs and lows.

“But I’m 27 now and a lot of my mates are married with kids. I don’t want to be 30 and living in a bedsit.”

Viewers will find out on Saturday (BBC One, 8.20pm) whether Mr Michael is picked by one of the judges, who are sat with their backs to the singers and judge them purely on their voice.

Mr Michael, who is a fan of Danny O’Donoghue’s band, The Script, said he would be watching the show at home with his family in Standens Barn.
