Police are appealing for witnesses after car thieves were scared off by the cries of a child in Northampton.
The vehicle was parked outside Barclays Bank, in Weedon Road, St James, at about 9.10pm when two men on bicycles approached it.
Officers believe they were attempting to steal the car when they were startled by a child, who had been left temporarily in the passenger seat
by the driver.
The child started to call for help and the men rode off in the direction of Sixfields.
The men were wearing dark hats and dark clothing.
Witnesses to the incident, which happened on Sunday, or anyone with information, are asked to call Northampton CID on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
