A 48-year-old motorcyclist has been seriously injured in an accident with a car.
The incident took place on the A428 Harlestone Road, near Harlestone, at about 9.30pm yesterday, and involved the rider’s blue Suzuki motorcycle, and a black Ford Focus being driven by a 36-year-old man.
The victim was taken to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
The road was still closed around midnight last night.
The crash was attended by two volunteer emergency doctors from the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme.
Dr Matthew Wyse and Dr John Trenfield supported the ambulance crew from East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) at the scene by administering sedation and powerful pain killer drugs, and applying a tourniquet to an injured leg to prevent further bleeding.
Dr Wyse said: “This was a challenging job. The patient was not trapped but had suffered very nasty, life changing injuries, was bleeding heavily and was in severe pain.
“Our priority was to support EMAS in getting to the major trauma centre as quickly as possible, while ensuring the patient was made as comfortable as possible.”
Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision. Anyone with information can call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615.
