An off-licence in Northampton has been banned from selling alcohol for two weeks and could face questions over its licence after it was found to have sold booze to teenagers.
Body Fuel, based on Kingsley Park Terrace, has been handed a 14-day suspension of their alcohol sales.
Northamptonshire Police this morning said the ban was made after alcohol was sold to children, who were aged between 15 and 16 years of age.
Officers have now asked for a review of the shop’s licence and a full hearing before Northampton Borough Council’s licensing committee is due to be scheduled.
Pc David Bryan licensing constable for Northamptonshire Police said: “Insuring that alcohol is sold and consumed responsibly is a key priority for Northamptonshire Police, all to often young persons who have consumed excessive amounts of alcohol are either directly involved in crime and disorder or are the victims of crime.
“Northamptonshire Police will continue to take firm action where information is received that premises are selling alcohol to people who are underage.”
