VIDEO: Pauline Quirke visits acting students at her Northampton academy

Broadchurch and Birds of a Feather actress Pauline Quirke visited students at her acting academy, based at Kingsthorpe College.

The award-winning actress is in town while performing in the stage version of Birds of a Feather at the Royal and Derngate and talked about how the youngsters will benefit from Pauline Quirke Academy classes.

She said: “As a parent and an actor I hope that the child that comes to PQA who’s very shy and nervous to begin with, after being with us for a while, their confidence grows and they become articulate.

“Particularly those who want to go into film and television, they learn how to work with an look at the camera.”

Students at PQA enjoy three hours of tuition every Saturday morning in comedy and drama, musical theatre and film and television as well as masterclasses in areas like special effects make-up, street dance and magic.

PQA are also introducing free Trinity College London Examinations for all students.

Sarah Varnam, principal of the Northampton academy said, “It has been an amazing year! We have some wonderfully talented students, guided expertly

by their teachers, who are all industry professionals.

“We have enjoyed two professional masterclasses so far, in beat-boxing and stage combat and students will be seeing their film work on the big screen of Vue Cinema later this term, just like the Hollywood stars.”
