A man who punched a 16-year-old girl and in another attack stole a bike from a teenage newspaper deliverer is being hunted by police.

Both incidents happened in Daventry and are being linked by police.

The first incident happened on the footpath between Welton Road and Northern Way at around 7.30pm on Friday May 3. A 16-year-old girl was approached by a man who punched her and took her bag. As he ran off, in the direction of the Northern Way underpass, she shouted that she was going to call the police and he dropped the bag.

The offender is described as a white man in his late 20s, with blonde highlighted hair, wearing a grey, high-necked jumper, baggy blue jeans and white trainers.

The second happened on Monday May 6, in South Place, at around 5.45am. A 14-year-old boy, delivering papers, was cycling into South Place from the direction of the town centre. A man, who was standing with a woman, grabbed the boy’s wrist, demanded his bike and grabbed the bike. After a member of the public shouted at the man, he let go of the bike and the boy cycled away.

The offender was seen heading in the direction of the town centre. He is described as a clean shaven white man, in his late 20s, with blonde hair, a deep voice and wearing a white, waist-length jacket. The woman with him is described as white, 5ft 4in, of skinny build and with black, shoulder-length hair.

Witnesses to these incidents, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
