Cold Ashby had just enough to beat Collingtree Park at home as they secured their first group A victory of the season by the scoreline 5-3.
James Lovett took the opener for Ashby with three holes to spare, only for Stan Hall to reply against Adam Ashenden on the 18th hole.
With big home wins for Paul White and Jack Hall being cancelled out by comfortable victories for Collingtree’s Ian Dallas and Chris Malton in the closing four ties, the result came down to the two middle games.
James Wallis guaranteed at least a draw for the hosts with a 2&1 success against Trevor Twelftree, before Dennis Mathers confirmed the Ashby victory by defeating Matt Vickers on the last.
In group B, Wellingborough displayed their ruthlessness in their home tie with Kettering as the reigning champions made it two wins out of two games this season with a 7-1 thrashing.
Once Sam Walton, Mike Gilbrook and Duncan Cornish picked up the first three points with relative ease, the result never looked in doubt. Marcel Aarts was the Kettering man to get on the board.
