Staff and pupils at a primary school in Northampton are celebrating after Ofsted inspectors gave it a ‘good’ rating.

Queen Eleanor Primary School in Delapre was placed in special measures in January 2012.

But a swift turnaround has seen inspectors impressed by their visit in March this year.

The newly-published report has highlighted several reasons why the school, which teaches 241 pupils, has improved.

It said: “Standards are improving rapidly, including in English.

“The quality of teaching has improved because staffing has stabilised. Staff have responded well to professional development and support offered from senior colleagues and external advisers.

“Pupils understand the high expectations staff have of them, They are interested in their lessons and want to learn, taking advantage of stimulating lessons and the rich extra out-of-school activities on offer.”
