Daventry Motorcycle Festival, which takes places on Saturday May 18, will be welcoming home several Hesketh Motorbikes originally made in the town.

The festival, which runs between 10.30am and 2.30pm on the main high street in the town centre, will also include an array of vintage and modern motor-bikes, there will be a music stage, face painting, a bouncy castle, stalls, children’s rides and much more for all the family.

A highlight of the day and certainly one not to miss will be the ‘Ride-In’, when hundreds of bikes arrive in the town centre. Bikes will leave ‘Bikers World’, on Browns Road, and make their way into Daventry before arriving and parking on High Street just after 10am.

David Harris, from the Hesketh Owners Club, said: “We are delighted to be involved in the Daventry Motorcycle Festival. The Hesketh was originally manufactured just down the road from here so obviously this is a very special event for us – it feels like we are coming home! We will be bringing along several bikes including the Hesketh V1000 and the Hesketh Vampire. Although only in its third year the festival continues to grow in popularity and we are really excited to be part of it.”

Chris Stanley, from Unlimited Communications, one of the event organisers, said: “The Motorcycle Festival is a great event for Daventry that brings in hundreds of people to the town centre and provides a great boost for the local economy - very important in this current economic climate.

“Losing the Daventry Business Partnership earlier this year has made the organisation of the festival more difficult but thanks to the support of motorcycling groups, organisations, local businesses and individuals it will happen and we hope to see it go from strength to strength.

“Lots of other events are also planned in and around the town centre on Saturday, including the St James School Fair, the College Open Day and a concert by the Daventry Choral Society so I hope people will take the opportunity to support all of these and get the town really buzzing!”

This year the festival is being organised by Unlimited Communications and Juice Sound & Light, in conjunction with the local motorcycle and business community. A special thanks also to the Daventry Business Partnership for their support of the event.
