Northamptonshire have offered a contract to Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques for the upcoming Friends Life t20 competition.

The 26-year-old, who made his Test debut earlier this year and has just completed a stint in the Indian Premier League for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, is expected to have made a decision by early next week.

Henriques, who played for Glamorgan in the Twenty20 last year, is a clubmate of Trent Copeland and chief executive David Smith says that he would be a good addition to the Steelbacks’ squad.

He said: “He’s just returned to Sydney from the IPL and we should know one way or another by Monday.

“He’s coming over to play against the England Lions with Australia A, he’s got a good one-day record and comes highly recommended.

“He’d be a good acquisition for us and as I’ve said before, white ball cricket is a work in progress and Moises would play a big part in helping us become more competitive.”
