Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a thug shouted abuse at a woman and punched the windscreen of her car in a road rage attack.

Police say the incident began at around 4.20pm, on Friday, when a 46-year-old woman was driving a black Toyota Celica along Oxford Road, in Brackley.

A man driving a silver Ford Fusion pulled out in front of her, causing her to brake.

Both cars continued into Bridge Street and then Banbury Road, with the Fusion in front of the Celica.

As the driver of the Celica approached Manor Road, she indicated to turn right, at which point the Fusion stopped suddenly. The man driving the Fusion got out of the car and shouted abuse at the woman, before hitting the windscreen.

He then returned to his car and drove off.

The attacker was white, in his mid 30s, around 5ft 6in tall, with dark coloured hair and a “rugged complexion”.

There was a passenger in the car who was an older man, with scruffy hair.

It is believed a member of the public tried to intervene in the incident and officers would like to speak to them.

This witness, or anyone else who may have seen this incident or have any information regarding it, is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
