Not many people book themselves in for day trips to Rotterdam – and David Ripley is almost certainly not going to be keen for a quick return.
The Northamptonshire head coach and his team went to the industrial port town in Holland hoping for a Yorkshire Bank 40 clash only to watch the rain fall.
It was hardly ideal even if the washout did give the Steelbacks their first point in Group A.
“It was very frustrating,” Ripley said.
“It has been two long days of travelling all for nothing.
“It’s the luck of the draw I suppose.
“Last year we got the Unicorns which is just a short potter down the M1.
“This year we get Holland - and it is a long way to travel to for no cricket.
“There was just horrendous rain for 24 hours non stop. The game the day before only got 10 overs and when we arrived it was apparent there was no point getting changed.
“It’s not ideal but these things happen.”
