A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after crashing into a row of parked cars in the early hours of this morning.

The 23-year-old is currently in police custody after the crash in Kinglsey Road, Northampton, at about 3am.

A number of cars were damaged in the crash.

It is the second time in three years resident James Thorpe, aged 40, has had one of his cars crashed into.

In last night’s collision, both his Fiat Punto and Ford S-Max were damaged.

Mr Thrope said: “We were in bed and suddenly woken by a big bang at about 3am.

“I was in bed and got up and looked out of the window and saw that an Audi A3 had crashed into my car.”

Mr Thorpe’s wife Anna called the police, while he went outside to see what damaged had been done.”

In January 2010, a stolen car crashed into one of his cars.

He said: “One of the cars which was damaged last night was a company car so I’m waiting for it to be replaced, but at the moment, we’re unable to use either.

“We’ve been told that there needs to be traffic calming measures in place but I cannot see it happening as it’s a main road through Northampton.”
