A victim was attacked from behind and robbed of a “substantial” amount of cash close to a canal-side pub in Stoke Bruerne.

The attack happened in Shutlanger Road, between 11am and 11.30am, on Tuesday, near the Navigation public house.

The victim was walking towards his car when he was attacked from behind by two men. The men knocked him to the ground and stole “a substantial amount of cash”.

They then ran to the junction of Shutlanger Road and Bridge Road, where they got on a yellow Triumph motorbike and drove off along the canal towpath towards Blisworth.

A police spokesman said: “The motorcycle was found abandoned on the towpath a short time later.

“Officers would like to speak to the drivers of two vehicles seen parked in the area around the time of the incident – a light coloured BMW parked in a gateway close to the towpath and a white Transit style van parked close to the Blisworth tunnel.”
