Police have confirmed a man who was found collapsed and suffering from serious head injuries in a Northampton road has died.

The 35-year-old man was taken to hospital in a “critical” condition after he was found with head injuries in Talavera Way, between Lings Way and Lumbertubs Way, on Saturday.

He was discovered at around 11.30pm and was being treated in Walsgrave Hospital.

However, a spokesman for Northamptonshire Police has today said the man, who has not been named, has since died.

The cause of his injuries remain unknown and detectives are continuing to try to piece together what happened to the man.

A post-mortem is expected to be carried out on the man’s body tonight or tomorrow, when a cause of death will be established.

DS Keith Finson said: “We are keeping an open mind about what has happened and we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward with information.”

Detectives are particularly keen to speak to a man who was seen to stop and help him

He is described as a 6ft white man in his 30s, of slim build, driving a small, metallic-coloured hatchback.
