The leader of Northampton Borough Council has joined a Government-backed trade mission to India.
Councillor David Mackintosh (Con, Rectory Farm) has joined local government minister, Eric Pickles, on the trip, which has been organised by UK Trade & Investment to showcase British expertise and highlight the potential for investment in areas such as Northampton’s enterprise zone.
Councillor Mackintosh said: “Being asked to take part in this trade mission is a significant opportunity to showcase Northampton and the wider county of Northamptonshire to the Government and private industry of India, which is keen to work with UK companies.
“We have a track record of delivery and are working hard together to create the conditions to support economic recovery.
“I am keen to play my part in making sure that these opportunities come to companies in our region and that we open the door to investment from India, where people see us as a place they can do business.”
The delegation will travel to Kolkata, Kochi and Ahmedabad for meetings with senior officials.
