The county’s new assistant chief constable has started work at Northamptonshire Police, as he begins his job of tackling serious crime gangs.
Assistant Chief Constable Russ Foster (pictured) started his new job at Wootton Hall last week, taking on responsibility for specialist crime and operations.
He replaces Martin Jelley, who has been promoted to become deputy chief constable.
Mr Foster joined Northamptonshire Police from Derbyshire Constabulary and will lead on ensuring that communities are protected from the harm caused by serious crime and criminal networks alongside more specialist functions, such as firearms.
He said: “I am extremely pleased to be appointed as the new Assistant Chief Constable and I look forward to helping to deliver the Police and Crime Commissioner’s police and crime plan and helping to make Northamptonshire the safest place in the country.
“I look forward to meeting officers and staff throughout the Force and will be getting out across the county in the next few weeks to meet as many of them as possible.
“I am committed to working with colleagues in the Force and the wider community to tackle our priorities of reducing crime, with a clear focus on violence and serious acquisitive crime.”
Mr Foster joined Nottinghamshire Police in 1993.
He served as a detective in every rank up to Detective Superintendent before transferring to Derbyshire in 2009, where his roles have included head of business change and head of serious and organised crime.
