Community groups could soon be asked to help improve three of Northampton’s largest parks.
Northampton Borough Council is currently investigating plans to improve the town’s parks and green spaces.
One of the key recommendations is to give communities more say in the management of parks through new committees made up of councillors, community groups and members of the public.
Initially it is proposed park management committees will be set up for Abington Park, Delapre park and the Racecourse.
Councillor Mike Hallam (Con, Parklands), the council’s cabinet member for the environment, said: “We’ve been working with friends groups and the community to make sure our parks are safe, well managed and welcoming.
“Our premier parks each have distinct characters and we’re all committed to working together to preserve and enhance what they have to offer. Setting up park management committees could help us achieve our ambitions more effectively.”
The plans will be discussed by the council’s cabinet on Wednesday.
