An award winning charity art exhibition which has been designed to bring local art into the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside is opening its stable doors for the third consecutive year at the end of the month.

And it is hoped, after what has been a particularly difficult year for farmers across the country, that more people than ever will venture out into the countryside to Art in the Box at Pastures Farm, Grendon in support of the exhibition which is raising money for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI.)

Regional fund-raiser for RABI, Milly Wastie, said: “This year in particular has been incredibly difficult for farmers across the whole of the UK. The appalling weather conditions meant that many farmers were unable to plant their crops in the autumn. For some of those who did manage to cultivate their fields and sow crops, the continuous cold and wet weather went on to cause more damage with many crops having to be written off. Farming yields and farming incomes are expected to be well down this year and we fully expect the increase in demand for support from RABI to continue to increase.”

Organiser of Art in the Box, Debbie Skinner, said: “It is hard to believe that this is the third year for Art in the Box. To date the exhibition has raised £2,700 for RABI, which is magnificent. Once again, the exhibition will feature work from a number of Northamptonshire’s’ most favourite artists along with work from a selection of different artists which we hope will create even more interest.

“In addition, there will be some wonderful arts and crafts on show. Art in the Box is a very informal, free exhibition and I would encourage anyone who fancies a trip into the countryside to call in and take a look.”

This year’s exhibition which gets underway with a private view on Friday June 28 will run from Saturday June 29 to Wednesday July 3 from 2pm to 6pm daily.

The address of Art in the Box is Pastures Farm, Station Road, Grendon Northampton NN7 1JD. More information is available from Debbie Skinner 07890 917325 or www.pasturesfarm.co.uk
