Northamptonshire Police has confirmed it has sent officers to the G8 Summit in Northern Ireland - but is refusing to say how many.
The two-day meeting of leaders of eight of the world’s largest economies is taking place at Lough Erne, in County Fermanagh.
The force has sent Public Support Unit (PSU) officers, who are trained in dealing specifically with incidents of public disorder.
Chief Superintendent Paul Fell said: “Together with our regional forces we have sent across officers to support the policing of the G8 Summit in Northern Ireland.
“At this stage, for operational reasons, we will not be disclosing the number of officers we have deployed.
“Policing within the county with continue as normal.
“Any questions regarding policing and security of the summit should be directed to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).”
